Just a few announcements....

Hope you had fun over spring break!  I know I did, but.., back to work!

Monday Morning West Van Nuys classes:  We don’t have anyone actually pre-registered for classes in the morning (4/21) in West Van Nuys at Sherman Way and White Oak!  If you are planning to attend class at that location please contact the office at 818 996 3647 or email at k9frend@earthlink.net!  As of right now the start date is postponed until 5/5!

Woodland Hills Monday night 7:45 pm classes:  We do have a space or two still left in our Beginning Obedience course on Monday night...Class 2 is tonight (4/21).  We would need to get you caught up a bit, or if you have done a private session already that may be enough!

Tarzana Park Saturday morning classes:  As of right now I have a small group enrolled in lifeskills & walking (intermediate level course with lots of leash walking) for Saturday morning at 11:15.  I have a very small group for beginning obedience at 9:45 and no one for intermediate class geared toward AKC CGC/therapy dog prep at 8:30am!  PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL ASAP if you are interested in any of these classes... or we may have to postpone the start to 5/3, we will keep you posted!!!  As I said in my last email... I think spring break has everyone distracted and now that it is mostly over these classes should fill up!

BURBANK Sunday morning CLASSES:  We have had an amazing run at COLORWEST Printing in Burbank, and have to send a tremendous thank you to the owners of the property and Diana for allowing us to be there all these years!  The current series of classes scheduled to begin this weekend, 4/27, ARE NOW CANCELLED at COLORWEST IN BURBANK.  If you have registered or prepaid for one of these classes, we are happy to accommodate you at another location or issue you a refund!  We will not be able to use the facility there for training any longer!  We will no longer teach a class on the on the East side of the San Fernando Valley (Studio City or Burbank area) without your help.  We need a spot for our K9 Nosework elite group and our obedience classes!  Feel free to call or email with suggestions to 818 996 3647 or k9frend@earthlink.net!  We would prefer to keep it on Sunday morning!  If you own a business, and would like to let us use your area on a Sunday morning (when no one is around anyway) ... we have our own insurance and promise to leave everything exactly the way we found it!

Puppy Socialization/Head Start – 6:30 PM Monday 4/7/14 or 3:30 PM Sunday 5/4/14 – (At the Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa in Woodland Hills) for pups 10 weeks to 6 months!  Socializing puppies with puppies, people, different surfaces, sights, sounds, etc.  A basic clicker introduction will be included as well as basics like Sit, Down, and Come.  Potty training, crate training, grooming, handling, biting, nipping, and chewing (puppy manners) will be covered.  Set your puppy up for success!......$120.00

WE WILL HAVE A NORTHRIDGE PAMPERED PET PUPPY SOCIALIZATION COURSE THURSDAY NIGHTS starting 5/1/14

Puppy Parties SATURDAY 4/26/14 or  5/17/14   at My Best Friend Obedience in Reseda!  Under 6 months at 3:30 pm and over 6 months at 4:30 pm (outdoor one time per month), you must email K9frend@earthlink.net  for a reservation and directions!

HEALTHY PUPS ONLY with 2 sets of vaccines and clear fecal test, no parasites/fleas ........................................... (Donation $10-15)

Beginning Obedience – 7:45 PM Monday night 4/7/14 or  4:45 PM Sunday night 5/4/14  (At The Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa in Woodland Hills) Sit, Down, Stay in both of those positions, Come, Wait at gates and doorways, Leave-it (don’t touch it), Heel position, no Jumping up, and Walking on a Loose Leash (no pulling) are all covered in our basic obedience course and this course is AKC STAR PUPPY TESTING IS Free at our quarterly test sites!  (Free for life to come back once you complete the full course the first time – 75% attendance required!).............................................................$190.00

WE WILL HAVE A NORTHRIDGE PAMPERED PET BEGINNING COURSE on 4/23/14 at 7:45pm!

Intermediate level obedience (Canine Good Citizen/Pre-Therapy) 6:00 PM Sunday 5/4/14 - (At The Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa in Woodland Hills) continuation from beginning obedience, geared toward helping you pass the cgc test and all the beginning commands below with more distraction and distance…and “Heel” (Glued to the left side walking) will help us achieve the dog to dog greeting with another owner/dog, left with a stranger for a minute, etc. (Free for life to come back once you complete the full course the first time – 75% attendance required!) ............................................................$190.00

Advanced Class – 7:15 PM Sunday 5/4/14 – (At The Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa in Woodland Hills)  For on-going advanced students (or with approval from instructor)............................................................................................................................$120.00

Tricks Level I Class -6:30 PM Thursday 5/15/14 – (At the Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa) Paw, Wave, Back-up, Crawl, Bow, Spin Left & Right, Sit Up (Stick-em Up!), Play Dead (On Your Side), Roll-Over, Sad Puppy (Head Down), Leg Weaves (Figure Eight), and a caught behavior. Intro level tricks class, would also be a good review for others! ................................$120.00

Tricks Level II Class -6:30 PM Wednesday 5/14/14 – (At the Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa)  This class is for students already taking Tricks and is a continuation class!!!.................................................................................................................$120.00

Growly/Reactive Dog class – 7:45 Wednesday – starts 5/14/2014 (At the Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa) for dog reactive dogs!  This class is recommended as a follow up to private training.  No DANGEROUS DOGS please!  Call with questions.  Before attending series you must take INTRO TO GROWLY CLASS!.........................................................................................$120.00

INTRO TO GROWLY CLASS 1.5 hours, one class only on 4/30/14 at 7:30pm...........................................................................$50.00

AKC Rally Obedience (Intro and Practice combined) – 7:45 PM Thursday 5.15.14 – (At the Pampered Pet Hotel & Spa)  We will cover what Novice Rally Obedience entails, what the signs are, and teach the dogs how to perform each one.  A whole lot of fun for our more advanced dogs!......................................................................................................................................$120.00

High Energy & Control combined with Focus on Agility – 7:15 PM Monday night (moved to BALBOA Park - 4 weeks –NEW classes forming monthly!  FOR INTERMEDIATE LEVEL AND UP (must know heeling) You know who you are ... PERFECT FOR AGILITY STUDENTS THAT NEED FOCUS WORK!  This is a class specifically created for our especially high energy K9 friends!  This class is particularly good for herding breeds (Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, etc.), but is open to other high energy dogs.  Dogs must have at least an Intermediate level education and be social with other dogs (we will be doing off-leash work, so no reactive dogs, PLEASE) call MBFO for details at 818 996 3647......................................... $95.00

Cara Calaway at Jump City Agility is in need of someone to come out a couple of days a week to help set up equipment for classes - probably Tues/Wed or Wed/Thurs 4:30 - 6:00 pm. Has to be someone who can handle moving heavy stuff around like the a-frame. Ideally it would be someone interested in agility and maybe could exchange class fees for the work or ??

Attention Dog Owners ~

Bunim-Murray Productions (Project Runway, The Real World) is currently CASTING for KIDS and DOGS to participate in a fun presentation reel for a popular children’s network! If you have a dog that is quite the character or know a family that would be perfect--- send them our way!!! 

We are looking for teams consisting of: a kid and their dog. Kids should be between 8-16 years old. Looking for dogs that have a special talent (or are food motivated!)… whether it be a silly trick, dancing, singing, obedience, jumping, skateboarding, balancing, relay races, agility courses and more!
